Just a quick post to say that while the blog has been pretty dormant of late, I have been hard at work behind the scenes putting all hours God sends into finishing my comic Hilt. Only 2.5 pages to go! I’ll be premiering the printed comic at Supanova on the Gold Coast (April 4th – 6th) and Melbourne (April 11th – 13th). Here’s quick snap of a some original art to be going on with. Hope you can make it to either/or and pick up a copy. Wish me luck!

Just a quick post to say that I’ll be in Artist’s Alley at this coming weekend’s Supanova at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane. I’ll be selling the usual prints and Art Nuggets: Year One book, as well as giving away these 5 page preview flyers for the HILT comic. If you’re attending, come by and pick one up.
This week I’m taking a break from my day job at Defiant Development to blitz my comic in an effort to get ahead on it. It’s been a productive few days and is going to be capped by my attendance at ZICS (Zines & Indie Comic Symposium) this weekend. I’ll have a table there selling my wares, and will be doing a talk about my motivation and process I use in my Hilt at 2pm on Sunday as part of the Skillz 2 Pay the Billz workshop. A while ago I had the pleasure of working with the talented Josh Tanner on his short film The Landing. The script called for a comic book prop and I was employed to create the cover art and two pages of internal panels in the style of 1960’s comics.
It’s interesting looking back on this, having done some more comic work since, and seeing where I would do things differently, were I to do it again today, but I’m pleased with it and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
Just took delivery of my merchandise for this weekend’s Supanova down at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. Come on down to Nick & Pete’s Art Nuggets in Artist’s Alley, Booth D and pick up a 50 page art book, free Hilt bookmark, or just to see me making the Hilt comic live. Peter Yong will also be there with his lead chisel, sculpting 2D masterpieces hewn from purest graphite and selling his fine wares. Can’t wait!
This is Chabal, the villain of HILT. I’ve been working on the design of the armour for some time, more of which can be seen on the HILT Blog. Rest assured, the comic is being completed just as swiftly as circumstances allow.
It’s been one year since I started this blog and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has viewed, shared and appreciated my artwork. I am pleased to be able to share with you all my lead character from my comic HILT, Fiona. Fiona is the heroine of the comic and, after some recent redesigns of the head, I can say I’m very pleased with the way she has turned out.
