Hand of Fate Concept Art

Yesterday saw the release of Defiant Development’s game Hand of Fate, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and I’m pleased to say it’s getting some great reviews. So to celebrate, I’m posting these character designs I created for the game, beginning with a slide show of my process.

Rise to Power – Card Art Pt.1

Having just finished the first batch of card art images for the basic version of Rule & Make’s Rise to Power, I thought it’d be nice to present them as a set. These have been as much fun to create as the game is to play. I’ll post the rest of the art (which was part of the stretch goals for the Kickstarter campaign) when they are complete. Supanova Brisbane 2013

As I stated in my earlier post, I am working on Hand of Fate by Defiant Development, the makers of Heroes Call. Here is my work on the Minotaur faction. Starting off with some exploration sketches, we narrowed the field down to the two best. From there I did a few designs on each, before settling on the bulky fella. I then created a light, medium & heavy version. It was then decided that two higher classes were needed, the King and the Ace, which gave me opportunity to really embellish the designs further.

HoF-PlayerCharacter01For the last few months I have been working at Defiant Development on their downloadable adventure game Hand of Fate. I’ve had the pleasure of working on the character designs and have really enjoyed it. We started on the player character with the idea that you could choose to be one of three classes, with each class having a light, medium and heavy version. Later I will be posting concepts for the various races featured in the game.

Hilt – Fiona

It’s been one year since I started this blog and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has viewed, shared and appreciated my artwork. I am pleased to be able to share with you all my lead character from my comic HILT, Fiona. Fiona is the heroine of the comic and, after some recent redesigns of the head, I can say I’m very pleased with the way she has turned out. The Deep

A little pic I knocked up for OzComics.com’s The Deep challenge, to celebrate the release of the second book, The Vanishing Island. The Deep is a fine graphic novel by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer published by Gestalt Comics and is well worth checking out. If the first book, Here Be Dragons, is anything to go by, The Vanishing Island should be a winner. That reminds me, I need to unlend the first book from a mate…

I had fun creating this image. Still working out my comic style for when it comes to creating my own comic HILT. The fish were fun to draw as well and at one point I was considering using all of them together. In the end I settled for an oppressive school of the second design. The deep sea aspect of the comic allows for so much scope for aquatic beasties. Must be very enjoyable.
